Purpose of Position

Implement, lead, and independently manage the SCHN Coding Quality Process, inclusive of coding audits, coding quality plan, benchmark performance, analysing PICQ Errors, ensuring Coding Quality Key perofrmacne indicators are met.

Engagement and education of clinical staff on documented clinical information in the eMR to achieve optimal coding. This requires highly developed and effective negotiation and delegation skills. Present finding to network keystakehodlers.

 

Analyse, trend and ensure the correction of SCHN PICQ errors, present findings to key stakeholders including internal hospital auditors for the annual District Network Return Process. Ensure completion of coding audits and review of new iniatives such as hospital acquired complications and code onset flag assignement, on a regular basis across the network.

 

This position is Permanent Full Time and is classified as a Health Manager Level 3.

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated excellent leadership in Clinical Coding Quality/Documentation Management using the classification system ICD-10-AM/ACHI.

2. Demonstrate a high level understanding of Activity Based Management

3. Demonstrate confident engagement and education skills with clinicians on clinical coding, NWAU value and impact of documentation.

4. Proven capacity to implement and deliver coding quality KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)

5. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, independently complete presentations on coding quality to the executive and keystakeholders.

6. Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and recommendations to improve coding practices and procedures.

7. Experience with trending and analysing Performance Indicator Coding Quality Errors (PICQ).
