Purpose of Position


  • Conduct home diagnostic sleep studies.
  • Conduct home therapeutic treatment trials of CPAP.
  • Data management and analysis of polysomnograms and CPAP download data
  • Assist with review and generation of sleep reports.
  • Conduct a CPAP clinic
  • Maintain sleep equipment and procure consumables
  • Provide assistance with sleep related equipment to the inpatient respiratory unit

This position is permanent part time, working 16 hours per week and is classified as a Hospital Scientist (Scientific Officer).


Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

Selection Criteria 1) A degree in science from an approved university or college of advanced education requiring a minimum of three years full-time study.

2) Demonstrated high level interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills that support the primary business function of a sleep laboratory.

3) Proficient with conducting home sleep studies, including management of data and ongoing maintenance of equipment.

4) Proficient with conducting trials of automatic titrating home CPAP studies, including management of equipment and data.

5) Demonstrated experience with sleep-related software and electronic data management.

6) Recent extensive experience with scoring sleep studies.

7) Commitment to excellence and continuous quality improvement.
