Purpose of Position

The provision of care and support to frail aged clients including those with dementia in a day centre environment. The program is activity based and provides respite for carers and social interaction for clients. This is a casual position and you may be called upon to work at either Karinya Day Centre, Canterbury or Kalparrin Day Centre, Concord, Dementia specific Day Centres within Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).

Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated experience, understanding and awareness of the needs of frail aged clients with dementia

2. Demonstrates ability to assist, supervise and provide direct personal care or other care tasks to clients with dementia

3. Awareness and practical experience of safe manual handling of clients that are frail with dementia.

4. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment and participate in group activities.

6. Computer literacy and ability to enter notes in client records electronically

7. Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain within first 3 months of employment
