Purpose of Position
  • The Executive Assistant must be able to establish strong working relationships with staff at all levels both internal and external to the organisation.
  • The Mental Health Service is seeking a highly motivated person who will play an integral role in providing high level executive and administrative support to the Director of Operations & Corporate Governance; the Director of Clinical Services and will also support the overall mental health Executive Team.
  • The role has a strong focus on organising meetings and coordinating resources, and wll be expected to proactively initiate, plan and prioritise such events.
  • The person will have experience in working to deadlines, have the ability to work inpendently and be able to navigate the intricacies of a complex organisation.
  • Background in providing Executive Administrative support in a health agency and knowledge of medical terminology will be well regarded.
  • The successful applicant must be dynamic, well organised, demonstrate initiative, and be able to juggle multiple requests while remaining positive under pressure.
  • They should have high level communication skills, customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with others in a team.

Executive Assistant to provide administrative support to the Mental Health Service


Internal to Sydney Local Health District

Selection Criteria High level verbal, written communication and interpersonal communication skills. This includes the ability to negotiate, facilitate and liaise between individuals and groups where confidentiality, sensitivity and discretion must be applied.

Proven ability to problem solve, prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a complex work environment with minimal supervision. This includes ability to respond, adapt and cope with changing priorities in a busy multidisciplinary work environment.

Ability to develop, implement, monitor and improve administrative business systems.

Ability to manage conflict, maintain information confidentially and work in a high pressure environment with high work demands.

High-level information technology and systems skills including office systems, electronic filing, work processing, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, spreadsheets, rostering/pay systems and other proprietary software applications.

Ability to provide high-level customer service to all members of the Mental Health Executive

Demonstrated experience in providing high-level administrative/secretariat support to meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes and action logs and other papers as required.
