Purpose of Position

A Supervisor in the Environmental Services provides a direct link between the Environmental Services Management, Coordinators, Leading Hands and cleaning staff. The Supervisor is responsible for the provision of an efficient and effective cleaning and waste removal service within the hospital. Is responsible for the direction and conduct of Environmental Services employees under their control. The Supervisor assists the Manager GAS 8 Supervisors and Coordinators in the day to day operations and the training of staff.

Selection Criteria High level of communication skills, ability to demonstrate a high level of oral and written English, able to communicate with other staff and Supervision.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and directions, and work with a minimum of supervision.

Experience as a Supervisor in a Health Service Cleaning Department.

Proven ability to perform a “hands on” approach to work related situations.

High level knowledge of word and excel computer software for reporting and rosters

Demonstrated ability to operate and train employees in the use of motorized cleaning machinery, equipment and cleaning practices.
