Purpose of Position

This position commences July 2018. Upper GI Surgery Unit: The unit has 6 consultants, 13 sessions and approximately 900 cases per year. There is a focus on advanced laparascopic skills. Cancer surgery across the sectrum of oesphagogastric and pancreatic and liver procedures are performed. There are opportunities for medicial officers to learn and perform ERCP. Clinically based research opportunity exist.

 

Concord hospital maintains strong links to the veteran community, and is a tertiary referral centre for burns and laparoscopic upper GI surgery, in addition to vascular, thoracic, neurosurgery and colorectal surgery.

Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with AHPRA.

FRACS or international equivalent.

Must possess higher degree, Masters of Surgery or Senior equivalent to the Australian Health Care system.

Demonstrated ability and experience in Upper GI/Endosurgery.

Demonstrated interest in teaching and research.

Demonstrated clinical competency and appropriate progress toward career goals.

Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.

Demonstrated good organisational, time management skills and commitment to ongoing quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
