Purpose of Position

The Peter Beumont Unit is a nine bed unit for the inpatient assessment and treatment of Eating Disorders located in the Professor Marie Bashir Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.


The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is responsible for providing a nursing consultancy service, nursing intervention and clinical care to patients/clients, carers and other health professionals accessing the Peter Beumont Unit.


The CNC2 will provide clinical leadership and specialty related education to staff within the facility.


The CNC2 will initiate and utilise research and quality activities for evidence based practice and outcome focussed service.


The CNC2 will coordinate the activities and outcomes of inpatient care with particular regard to the community-inpatient transition.

Selection Criteria 1.Current registration with AHPRA

2. Five (5) years full time equivalent post registration experience with three (3) years full time equivalent post registration in the specialty field.

3. Approved post graduate qualifications relevant to the field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation;

4. Demonstrated knowledge and participation in Quality Improvement activities and the accreditation process;

5. Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practise through the participation in research based projects and activities;

6. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and problem solving capabilities;

7. Demonstrated clinical skills and the ability to provide expert clinical education and training on complex issues;

8. Demonstrated commitment to community integration and consumer participation;
