Purpose of Position

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will provide expert clinical care and education to children and their families within a defined specialty.

The role provides a consultancy and educational focus for ward based nurses in the care of children and their families.

In collaboration and consultation with Key stakeholders, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will undertake primary responsibility for ongoing identification, development and evaluation of clinical practice.

 

This position is Permanent Full Time and is classified a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3.

Selection Criteria 1. Registered Nurse with a current Licence to practice from Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum seven years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least five years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.

2. Relevant approved post registration qualification relevant to the field of practice at masters level or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.

3. Proven clinical leadership and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.

4. Demonstrated advanced communication and inter-personal skills.

5. Demonstrated ability to implement changes and lead clinical practice through initiation, utilisation and review of evidence based research with proven skills in the conducting and publication of research.

6. Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and expertise in the management of organisational and cultural change.

7. Proven advanced skills in education and use of contemporary information systems and evidence of leadership in the development of educational programs.

8. Proven clinical expertise in complex child and family centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
