Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to provide pathology collection services at Medical Centre Pathology and its hospital sites with skills in both venpuncture and Cerner Data Entry.  Accredited extensive experience in venepuncture is necessary.


This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full time / part time, temporary and casual vacancies.

This position is a permanent position. To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only occur if there is no suitable local applicant.


Selection Criteria Demonstrated recent and extensive experience in venepuncture.

Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively on the phone.

Experience in word processing, Cerner laboratory data entry or similar system.

Experience in pathology specimen reception and understanding of specimen handling procedures.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team to problem solve and prioritise workload.
