Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Systems and Audit, the Senior Finance Officer - External Reporting, directly contributes to Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) meeting its financial management reporting requirements.

  

The position plays an important role in the financial management of the LHD through the effective management of all aspects of External Reporting, including the LHD’s performance against its Performance Agreement with the Ministry of Health.

 

The incumbent will regularly review systems and processes to ensure reports are accurate and reliable and aligned to external reporting requirements

Senior Finance Officer - External Reporting HM3

Positive thinking, energetic and strong committment with adequate technical skills and knowledge in external reporting is required for this challenging role.

 

ONLY PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OR TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES WITH 12 MONTHS CONTINUOUS SERVICE WITH NSW HEALTH ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY.

Selection Criteria 1. A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce and/or meet the requirements to be a member of a recognised Australian professional accounting body.

2. Strong accounting experience in a large health organisation preferably in the fields of financial external reporting.

3. Demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with a team and both internal and external customers.

4. Advanced knowledge and practical skills of Oracle systems, hospital billing systems and MS Office software (particularly Excel and Word).

5. Demonstrated experience with processes or systems redesign related to accounting and the ability to lead change programs.

6. Experience with leading high level negotiations.

7. Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including report writing and financial analysis.

8. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
