Purpose of Position
  • To work rostered shifts as directed in a seven day continuous shift roster, contributing
    to the efficient processing of patient samples in Blood Bank, Haematology and Clinical
    Chemistry.
  • The incumbent for this position will be rostered on 7 days rotating shifts that will
    include day, evening and overnight shifts.
  • Assist in the maintenance and trouble shooting of instruments, methods and quality
    control results and provide a customer focussed, professional service to the clients of
    the Laboratory.
  • To work as part of a team to provide an accurate, efficient and timely diagnostic
    service.

    There is currently an exciting opportunity to work for NSW Health Pathology at the Campbelltown laboratory as a Technical Officer. We are inviting suitable candidates to apply and potentially be part of one of the busiest NSW Health pathology laboratories. This position is available on a permanent full time basis.

     

    This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

    Please Note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

    Selection Criteria Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualification deemed appropriate by the employer with extensive experience in Blood Bank as well as one of the following disciplines: Haematology and Coagulation or Clinical Chemistry.

    Experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of a variety of automated pathology instruments and an ability to determine when to advise senior staff of situations requiring further action.

    Demonstrated ability to multi-task, to operate and monitor a number of analysers and processes at the same time.

    Demonstrated ability to work in both a team environment and in an unsupervised role

    Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex scientific results and take necessary steps to resolve any issues in reporting test results.

    Demonstrated understanding of laboratory Quality Systems and the ability to monitor, Interpret and manage QC results and problems.

    Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a Proficient computer skills with a range of relevant programs such as laboratory Information systems, electronic medical record systems and office applications such as word, and excel

    Ability and willingness to participate in 24/7 on call roster, after training.
