Northern NSW LHD seeks an experienced Specialist Medical Oncologist to work within its multi-disciplinary team of staff, providing expert medical assessment and management of patients.  The position will be primarily located at The Tweed, Murwillumbah & Byron Hospitals but may be varied as service demands and as agreed with the Medical Oncology Head of Department and the Director of Medical Services to provide support for other facilities in the N NSW LHD.  The successful applicant may commence as soon as possible and the position is until 3 February 2019 with a possible extension.  There will also be opportunities for further shifts during the contract period to provide leave cover.

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in NSW for the above position.  Applicants should have Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialist (State Award). 

 

With a rapidly growing population needing a comprehensive range of services, we are excited about the recent announcement of $534 Million awarded to develop a greenfield hospital in the Tweed region. This is currently in planning stage.   At the same time, The Tweed Hospital is being upgraded with additional inpatient beds and additional operating theatres. Clinicians are actively engaged in development of models of care, workforce planning and building design to ensure the new hospital is person centred enabling contemporary health care delivery.

Selection Criteria Medical Practitioner eligible for full specialist medical registration in Australia (AHPRA) holding FRACP (Medical Oncology) or other relevant specialist qualification as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Recent demonstrated experience in Medical Oncology and the provision of specialist oncology services

Demonstrated ability to participate, work & communicate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and to under & post graduate teaching

Commitment to and experience in clinical research

Evidence of commitment to providing high quality health services and continuity of care to the local community.


Ability to participate in an oncall roster not exceeding 1:4


Computer Skills - able to utilize computer skills to comply with requirements in relation to Electronic Medical Records, Discharge Summaries and other electronic files as required
