Purpose of Position

To improve the health of the people of Nepean, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains region by contributing to a program of work for an identified population health priority, in line with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District’s goals and principles.


The primary focus of this role is to work with Local Government and Community Agencies to progress the Draft National Drug Strategy 2016-2025, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Drug Strategy 201-2019, and NSW State Health Plan Towards 2021.

Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, population health, education, communication, marketing, allied health or other relevant field and/or experience.

High level project management skills including demonstrated ability to plan, implement, evaluate and disseminate a population health project and report on project outcomes.

Demonstrated capacity to work effectively across a range of alcohol and other drug health promotion issues, particularly with members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and disadvantaged groups.

Ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with community, government and business organisations and agencies, and facilitate collaborative action.

Excellent written and verbal communication (including group facilitation skills), negotiation, and computer skills.

Sound organisational skills and the capacity to successfully manage several tasks concurrently to meet tight deadlines.

Current NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to use it for work.
