Purpose of Position

The Sucsessful Applicant will be required to complete a morning ward collection round and then work in the outpatients blood collection area or in specimen reception area as required. The applicant will be required to work afternoons, evenings and/or  weekends when required, with a high level of availability.

 

A casual blood collector position exists at the NSWHP laboratory at Canterbury Hospital.

 

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

 

An eligibility list will be created for future casual vacancies

Selection Criteria Certificate III in Pathology Collection and/or previous blood collection experience.

Recent experience in blood collection and entering orders via a laboratory Information System (LIS)

Proven written, verbal and reading skills.


Demonstrated knowledge of preanalytical factors affecting samples.


High level of interpersonal and customer service skills.


Demonstrated ability to work as team member.


Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload.



Proven availability at short notice to meet the needs of the laboratory.
