Purpose of Position

Provide a high quality medical imaging service to patients and carers of HNEI – Maitland and to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for patients of the service.

All clinical participation must be in accord with the level of training, experience, and where appropriate, recognised qualifications and credentialing, as agreed with the Chief Radiographer.

Typical tasks expected to be performed by Radiographers include: undertaking imaging in general radiography; patient care tasks; administrative tasks as required; audit and quality assurance participation; supervision and training of staff and students; provision of a radiographic diagnostic opinion to support the treatment of patients; triaging of patients; basic examination of patients consistent with the skills of the staff member.


Hunter New England Imaging - The Maitland Hospital, is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Radiographer to join the team.


The successful applicant will need to be highly skilled in a wide range of general x-ray examinations as well as having experience in Computed Tomography.

All applicants will need the ability to work a 24/7 roster in both CT and general radiography, and there is a requirement to participate in on-call.

This is a permanent full-time position, but consideration will be given to applicants who would like to work in a part-time capacity.

An eligibility list will be created for similar positions, both permanent and temporary, in the future.

Selection Criteria Eligible for registration with Australian Health Professionals Registration Authority (AHPRA). Relevant Tertiary qualification - Degree in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent. Current NSW EPA radiation Licence.

Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, ability to problem-solve, and set priorities.

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement

Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and apply a range of options to develop solutions

Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to understand their needs, enhance service delivery and act on situations when the norm is to wait for a situation to resolve itself

High level demonstration of skills in general radiography including operating theatre, mobiles, paediatrics and trauma. Demonstrated high level skills in CT scanning.

Eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
