Purpose of Position

As part of the Child Protection Counselling Service, the position has 6 primary


1. To coordinate and support the Referral Management and Early Support service.

2. To provide assessment, advocacy, case management and short term counselling

services to children, young people and adults referred to the Child Protection Counselling Services.

3. To work in conjunction with sexual assault and child protection counsellors, ensuring

seamless service delivery and timely intervention to children and young people (and

their family members).

4. To develop and maintain effective interagency partnerships with referring agencies

and other key service providers.

5. To participate in the promotion of an early intervention framework within IVPRS and with referring agencies.

6. To establish administrative processes for the referral management and early support service, to ensure a high standard of record keeping and data collection.

Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications as a Social Worker, Counsellor, Sexual Assault Counsellor, Welfare Worker or Psychologist and eligibility for registration with a relevant professional body

Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including computer literacy.

Demonstrated experience in the provision of intake and an understanding of early intervention principles.

Experience working with clients who have experienced sexual assault and or child protection concerns

Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect and domestic violence and best practice models for working with clients who have experienced abuse and/or trauma.

Demonstrated experience in assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults and experience in the development and maintenance of interagency partnerships.

Experience in or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds

Current Drivers licence and a willingness to travel across the LHD.
