Purpose of Position

Safe, efficient and effective distribution of pharmaceuticals to inpatient units in the Mental Health Centre

Provide assistance in the preparation of manufactured sterile and non-sterile products, and dispensing of prescriptions and associated clerical duties.

  • A part time pharmacy technician opportunity is available in the Mental Health Service at NBMLHD
  • Based at Nepean Hospital in the Mental Health Centre, you will work as a member of our pharmacy team to provide a quality pharmacy service to four mental health inpatient units, the Triage and Assessment Centre, and community based clinics. The pharmacy team is part of a larger multidisciplinary team providing compassionate, recovery focused inpatient care
  • The pharmacy technician will also need to build an effective working relationship with the Nepean Hospital Pharmacy. This position will suit a team player who can work with minimal supervision, has attention to detail and strong communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and possess good time management skills

Demonstrated good attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work input including the ability to select and distribute a large variety of products accurately.

Ability to certify products against specifications.

Ability to learn pharmaceutical names quickly.

Ability to use computer systems including Microsoft Office and Pharmacy specific systems

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated willingness to respond productively to supervision and work cooperatively in a team environment.
