Purpose of Position

To provide evidence-based drug and alcohol services including psychological assessments and interventions to patients accessing the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD Drug and Alcohol Service.

To apply, you need to be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold an appropriate work visa.

Selection Criteria 1. Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement or working towards endorsement as a clinical or forensic psychologist (as appropriate to postgraduate qualification).

2. Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of drug & alcohol assessments and evidence based interventions for alcohol and other drug using patients.

3. High level of competence in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based psychological, cognitive/behaviour management and counselling interventions for patients with substance abuse problems.

4. An ability to liaise with a range of relevant agencies and departments of the Local Health District.

5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. This includes demonstrated ability to build a strong and positive work culture within a team.

6. Proven high quality computer literacy, clinical documentation and verbal communication skills.

7. Current NSW drivers licence.

8. Experience in administering psychometric measures pertinent to the drug & alcohol cohort of patients and using this information to inform treatment planning and referral options.
