Purpose of Position

As part of the IVPRS management team, the position has the following primary objectives:

  • Co-ordination, support and facilitation of the clinical practices of the Child Protection Counselling Service.
  • Provision of case management supervision to Child Protection Counselling Service staff and students.
  •  Ensuring that the models of clinical service delivery are responsive to clients’ needs within existing resources and are consistent with NSW Health Sexual Assault and Child Protection policy imperatives.
  •  Facilitation of a safe team environment that ensures effective communication and decision-making processes.
  • Liaison with Community Services, Joint Investigation Respone Teams and other Interagency partners in relation to Child Protection service delivery.
  • Participation in the leadership of clinical service provision across IVPRS, working collaboratively with the IVPRS Clinical Lead & Coordinator to ensure cohesive and integrated service provision, in line with the IVPRS clinical model of care and service delivery priorities.
  • Ensuring legislative and medico legal requirements are met, in line with relevant LHD and NSW Health policy.
  • Support and promote a culture of Quality Improvement e and actively participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Support and encourage a focus on prevention, health promotion and community development. 
  • Participation in the leadership of clinical service provision across IVPRS, working collaboratively with the IVPRS Clinical Lead & Coordinator to ensure cohesive and integrated service provision, in line with the IVPRS clinical model of care and service delivery priorities.
  •  Ensuring legislative and medico legal requirements are met, in line with relevant LHD and NSW Health policy.

Selection Criteria • Tertiary qualifications as a Social Worker. Sexual Assault Counsellor, Welfare Worker, or Psychologist and eligibility for registration with respective professional organisations

• Demonstrated high-level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, sexual assault and domestic violence and best practice models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.

• Significant clinical experience working in child protection service delivery settings.

• Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and high level knowledge/experience of quality management processes

• Demonstrated understanding of current policies and legislation relating to child protection and other forms of inter-personal violence and knowledge of legal systems involved in child protection service provision.

• Demonstrated experience in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating group work programs

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including computer literacy

• Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving long distances across the LHD.
