Purpose of Position

To improve the sexual health outcomes of people living in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District by working in partnership with:

  • Health service providers
  • NGOs
  • Local government
  • Government departments
  • Schools and school communities

 

The content areas include sexual health and blood borne viruses.

 

This position contributes to the local implementation of the health promotion components of NSW Ministry of Health’s;

Sexual Health Promotion Framework 2016-2020

HIV Strategy 2016-2020

STI Strategy 2016-2020

Hepatitis B and C Strategies 2016-2020

Aboriginal BBV and STI Framework 2016-2021

and

                                                NSW Youth Health Framework

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Promotion Officer to join the HIV and Related Programs Team (HARP Team) at Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District
  • The successful applicant will develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a range of sexual health and blood borne virus health promotion activities and projects
  • The HARP Team is seeking an individual who is passionate about sexual health promotion, HIV and hepatitis health promotion and who understands the needs of the identified priority populations (as per the NSW Ministry of Health's BBV and STI Frameworks and Strategies). They would enjoy working with a broad range of community, non-government and government organisations and a range of other health professionals
  • This is a permanent full-time position working with a dynamic team to improve the health of the people of Nepean, Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Lithgow local government areas

Selection Criteria 1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Behavioural or Social Sciences, Health, Education or related areas.

2. Detailed/sound knowledge of individual and social impacts of HIV, STIs and viral Hepatitis and a sensitivity to work closely with priority population groups.

3. Sound knowledge of the sexual health needs & issues, of the identified priority populations.

4. Demonstrated ability to design, develop, implement and evaluate, education and health promotion activities and projects.

5. Good written and oral communication skills

6. Experience working in sexual health, blood born viruses, and/or youth health promotion activities and projects.

7. Current NSW State driver’s licence.
