Visiting Medical Officer Vascular Surgeon Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital
Supported by state-of-the-art technology, the brand new $280 million WWRRH is one of the busiest referral hospitals in NSW with 250 beds. To date more than $14 million of new medical equipment has been installed.
Our Department of Surgery currently has 16 surgeons and a Fellow, covering General, Vascular, Urology, ENT, and Paediatric Surgery. We service a catchment area of approximately 250,000 people and provide surgical services to a number of smaller sites including Young, Cootamundra, Temora, Tumut, Narrandera, Leeton, and Griffith. We also have two clinical schools – UNSW and Notre Dame.
We are inviting applications for a Visiting Medical Officer Vascular Surgeon.
We require our new Vascular Surgeon to be an experienced VMO with a passion for providing quality surgical services in a rural environment.
The position will involve elective and emergency theatre lists, on-call work, and the clinical management of admitted and referred surgical patients. The VMO will also have responsibilities for training, supervision, and education of junior doctors.
There is also potential to work at the Calvary Riverina Private Hospital based in Wagga Wagga. With 166 beds Calvary Riverina Hospital is one of regional NSW’s largest private hospitals. There are also two Day Procedure Centres – Riverina Day Surgery and Calvary Riverina Surgicentre.
Wagga Wagga was recently voted as the most family friendly city in Australia boasting healthy families, high income, excellent schooling, and safe communities. With a population of 63,500 Wagga is the largest inland city in NSW. Only 1 hr by plane from Sydney and Melbourne and a two hour drive to Canberra. There are numerous private and public school options, Charles Sturt University, and a thriving business sector.
