To provide holistic, best practice Urological surgical care to inpatients and outpatients of Manning Rural Referral Hospital (MRRH) and Mayo Private Hospital.

Lead in the provision of a best practice, evidence based Urological surgical service to patients of MRRH and to participate in the relevant teaching, training and research programs of the unit.

We are seeking an energetic and passionate Urologist to join one other specialist Urologist and share in providing quality elective and on-call Urological work at Manning Rural Referral Hospital and Mayo Private Hospital. A background of commitment to education and training programs and initiating research and/or service evaluation will be highly regarded.


Applicants MUST have a Medical Degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia, Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Urology) and demonstrated experience as a medical expert in Urological Surgery.

About the Hospital:

MRRH is a public hospital serving the local communities of Taree, Forster, Tuncurry and surrounding districts which operates 160 beds providing a broad range of specialist services.  MRRH prides itself on the fact that there are no patients in any category waiting past their benchmark. Waiting times for elective surgery are minimal and Emergency Treatment Performance times exceed 81%. Our services include general medical and surgical wards, ophthalmology, urology, paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics, TOES, ECT, and emergency. There is also a renal dialysis unit, and other services such as orthopaedics, vascular surgery, intensive care/coronary care, peri operative, paediatrics, maternity, oncology and a new state of the art Emergency Department.


Mayo Private Hospital is a 79 bed private hospital with 3 operating theatres and a cardiac catheterisation laboratory. Equipment for Urological services includes Trans Perineal Ultrasound with MRI fusion capability, Greenlight and Holmium Lasers. There is also an opportunity to work with another Urologist in private rooms at the facility.

Selection Criteria A Primary Medical Degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia

Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Urology) and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1973

Demonstrated experience as a 'MEDICAL EXPERT' in Urological Surgery

Demonstrated history of being a 'COLLABORATOR'. Able to work cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams and have effective liaison with other service providers in the area

Demonstrated history of being an effective 'COMMUNICATOR' (written and verbal). Able to provide empathetic and expert clinical care to patients, care givers, medical and non-medical colleagues.

Demonstrated experience as a 'LEADER'. Evidence of commitment to teaching and training at both undergraduate and post graduate level.

Willingness to participate equitably in the departments on call roster
