Purpose of Position

- CMOs are responsible for the assessment, investigation and initial management of the patients presenting to the Emergency department and admitted to the inpatient ward. This is under the under the supervision of the Emergency Physician on duty and VMO physician on call. It also serves to support completion of the Certificate and Diploma of Emergency Medicine through the ACEM.
- Working as a CMO within wards and the Emergency Department at Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital expected to manage patients with supervision from the Senior ED Doctors and VMO on call.

Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent. Current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia

Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a hospital setting appropriate to the needs of emergency and general medicine

Minimum three years postgraduate experience including 6 months minimum emergency medicine experience in an Australian Emergency Department in the last 2 years

Demonstrated effective communication skills, clinical skills, judgement and expertise, teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management

Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff
