An exciting opportunity exists to join a team providing high quality and effective specialist Otolaryngology services to the patients of Hunter New England area.

John Hunter is the largest hospital in the district, with approximately 650 beds (incl. John Hunter Children’s Hospital) and covers the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens geographical area. JHH is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma and teaching hospital, servicing a population of more than 800,000 people.

The department is seeking either a fellowship trained head and neck surgeon with microvascular reconstruction skills or a paediatric otolaryngologist. Other skill sets will be considered and the applicant will be expected to contribute to the John Hunter Hospital emergency roster.

Applicants will have a medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Selection Criteria Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Post Fellowship training in head and neck oncology, microvascular reconstruction.

Commitment to Clinical governance including Quality Assurance and audit

A commitment to and a demonstrated understanding of safe work practices in a clinical environment

Demonstrated commitment to postgraduate and undergraduate training
