Staff Specialist in Adult Integrated Psychiatry – Mental Health and Substance Use Service

We are seeking a dynamic Psychiatrist to provide an integrated (inpatient and community) role in the Mental Health and Substance Use Service (MHSUS).
Candidates must have a medical degree registerable in Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State award.

- Focus on the enhancement of community services to focus on prevention of mental illness, prevention or relapse and recovery
- Provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and supervision

About the position
The psychiatrist will join a multidisciplinary team in a busy integrated and rewarding adult mental health service. The successful candidate will, along with 2 other MHSUS Psychiatrists, be responsible for the management of a 22 bed inpatient unit at the Calvary Mater Hospital.

Selection Criteria
|
Evidence of being a MEDICAL EXPERT, including medical degree registrable in NSW and Fellowship of the RANZCP. Evidence demonstrating knowledge of and experience working with patients with complex mental health and substance use. Applicants who are expected to attain the FRANZCP in the next six months are welcome to apply.
Evidence of being a SCHOLAR, particularly the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in acquisition and development of knowledge in the mental health field.
Evidence of being a good COMMUNICATOR, including both oral and written skills and a sensitive approach to clear communication with patients, carers other professionals and the public.
Evidence of being a PROFESSIONAL, including preparedness to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the HNE Health Values. Preparedness to participate in oncall work and provide appropriate support to junior staff.
Evidence of being a COLLABORATOR, including ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
Evidence of being a MANAGER, including ability to be flexible and cope with a rapidly altering mental health system, past leadership and management experience, and previous improvement activities.
Evidence of being an ADVOCATE, including past involvement with consumer and carer groups, media and lobbying experience and ability in health promotion and prevention and recognitions of the social environment in which public mental health services operate.
Able to drive a standard motor vehicle and hold a drivers license to drive in NSW.
