Purpose of Position
  • To provide obstetrics and gynaecology inpatient and outpatient services at Manning Rural Referral Hospital, as well as participate in the obstetric on-call roster.
  • To provide, in cooperation with other professionals, clinical care of obstetric and gynaecological patients referred for investigation and management.
  • To provide professional advice and support as appropriate to both staff and local clinicians external to the hospital.
  • To engage in under and post-graduate education activities and staff development programs within the department and the hospital.
  • To participate in quality improvement and peer review audit, including Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
  • To contribute  to the development and maintenance of patient care standards and policies
 

Staff Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Manning Rural Referral Hospital (MRRH)

We are seeking an experienced consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to provide high quality, evidence based and patient focused clinical services to MRRH, which serves the local communities of Taree, Forster, Tuncurry and surrounding districts.

 

The position involves:

  • Both inpatient and outpatient services
  • Participating in the Obstetric on-call roster
  • Participation in MRRH’s active training program in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Participation in quality improvement activities and Peer Review

 

About the Hospital:

MRRH has 160 beds including 20 Mental Health beds and provides a broad range of specialist services including Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthesia, General, Urology and Orthopaedics Surgery, Internal Medicine, Renal and Oncology services.

 

About the area:

Taree is located on the Lower Mid North Coast of New South Wales, just 3 hours north of Sydney, 2 hours north of Newcastle and 1 hour south of Port Macquarie.  The hospital serves a population of around 100,000 people encompassing an area of 3,732 km2.

Selection Criteria Medical degree registrable in New South Wales. FRANZCOG and/or other specialist recongition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award or the Health Insurance Act of 1973.

Demonstrated ability to provide specialist standard clinical O&G service for elective and emergency cases, including outpatient clinics as well as participate in the on call roster.

Demonstrated commitment to practising evidence based medicine.

Demonstrated enthusiasm for delivering highly reliable patient care with a focus on patient safety including participatio in quality assurance activities and research programs.

Demonstrated ability to work within a range of models of maternity care provision collegiately in multidisciplinary teams, recognising the skills and contributions of all team members.
