Purpose of Position

The Women’s Health Nurse provides a women-centred service which aims to improve women’s health and wellbeing by maximising access to a range of health information. The aims of the clinical, counselling, referral and health promotion services provided are to maximise a woman’s choice and facilitate empowerment contributing to improved outcomes for women. The position will provide clinical, counselling and health education/ promotion services for women living in the communities of Broken Hill and Menindee. Focus is on women who are marginalised, have inequitable health status and/or inequitable access to health services. The women’s health service is informed by the Strategic Framework to Improve the Health of Women and the Women’s Health Outcomes Framework. This position is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 and functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, consultant, mentor and clinical care supervisor. In collaboration with the medical staff and nursing staff, the CNS monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. Incorporated within each of these role functions, the CNS is a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader, and cost-effective practitioner.

 

This position is Permanent Full Time and is classified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2. Salary range $80,641 - $83,282. This position is located in Broken Hill within the Far West Local Health District. Special recruitment incentives may apply to this position.

Selection Criteria A Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with qualifications in Family & Reproductive Health & at least 12 months experience working in the relevant clinical area; or 4 years post-registration experience, including 3 years in the relevant specialist field.

Demonstrated ability to act as a resource and mentor to others in relation to clinical practice in women's health.

Evidence of active contribution to own professional development.

Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making.

Demonstrated ability to exercise professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills and undertake the role of providing specialist clinical practice in women's health across the health service.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Licence to drive in NSW and willingness to travel as part of the role.
